Hi Latin Music Lover

My favorite music is Reggaeton. It's very fast music with good beat. Here are a couple of well popluar musicians of this genre.

• I agree that The Beatles are the alpha and omega, all time greatest. I resent RAIN and like groups that try to recreate or imitate great music of previous generations. So many new artists can't create a song and sound that's new and lasting so we get rap, sex, violence and vulgarity instead.
• Favorites of today include Christian, Latin, soul, soft rock, that which is melodic and original. I can also appreciate a bit of reggae, some country, classical and operatic.
•  Various songs and artists come on the scene or to my ear and I love it for awhile then move on to something else. The Three tenors, Il Divo, and the like are also ok. The sweet sound of Kenny G can also move me. 
• Would like to learn more about  mp3, embedding, etc. but perhaps too old and not enough spare time.

If you ever need some cheering up there is no band better than The Salteens. I first heard them maybe 6 years ago when they came to Australia and they're still my favourite band (even though they've released nothing new in quite a few years). Their music is the perfect soundtrack to a sunny day. Highly recommended. You can listen to them on their myspace website.

 

 

 

Graeme Connors has just released a new album as a joint project with Fiddler's Feast called the Last Suppeteers.  It is a fantastic album, really upbeat with some great melodies and truly sensational lyrics.  Graeme is an fantastic Australian artist who is identified as Country but I think he doens't strictly fit into that,, his style is more contemporary. I have been listening to Graeme's music for over 16 years, he has large number of albums with various styles over that time.  Check out his website www.graemeconnors.com and you can listen to some of his music and also look at what he has produced over the years.  His latest album as I have mentioned is really worth a listen, even if you just here the song about the boat it's worth it - it's an excellent collboration with another young songwriter.  Also check out the previous album "It's all good" as it is like a best hits album (he has reworked some of the old favourites), with a couple of newies. 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Anyone loving music from the disco era - try the Young Divas. Not only are they great Australian young talent, but they sing great music too. (At least I think so!!!) With songs like "It's Raining Men", "What A Feeling", "Gloria" and much more. They are young women finalists from the Australian Idol series. Give it a go!

Though my tastes change from day to day, it seems, I've been on a bluegrass/traditional/flatpicking kick for a while (Tony Rice, Norman Blake, Doc Watson, Bill Monroe, etc.) Another standby has been renaissance lute music, with Paul O'Dette being a notable performer. As for rock, gimme Dylan, Dead, Radiohead, Phish, Zeppelin, Queens of the Stone Age...the list goes on. And as for jazz, who can deny Miles Davis, John Coltrane, Ornette Coleman or Pat Metheny?

(Kurt Cobain has never sounded better!)

 

• Good Rock / Pop? For me it's The Beatles, The Stones, The Cars, The Police, Yes, SRV, STP, Red Hot Chili Peppers... melody has to be a top consideration... long live the 70's and all those who prescribe to that ethic!

 

• Favorite music prople/groups would have to be The Beatles, Metallica, Nickel Creek, Johnny Cash, Iron Maiden, Eric Clapton, and Alice in Chains. Some favorite songs: Day in the Life (Beatles), Nothing Else Matters (Metallica), Green and Gray (Nickel Creek), Boy Named Sue (Cash), Blood Brothers (Iron Maiden), Traveling Light (Clapton), Man in the Box (Alice in Chains).

 

• Anyone like some good rock? check out Godsmack, Our Lady Peace, Velvet Revolver, System of a Down, to name a few. If I had to narrow it down to my all-time favorite, it would probably be Our Lady Peace, they are great and they have a very unique sound, i think.

 

• Music is an amazing thing. There are some commendable artists of different styles.

 

• One of my favorite CDs is "The Breakthrough MJB". I had the pleasure of seeing her in concert this past weekend in NYC and she was AWESOME! Mary J's music is a combination of soulful R&B, rap, and hip hop that I've enjoyed listening to since her first CD in 1992. DS

 

 

• I appreciate christian praise music from various artists including Sonic Flood, Point of Grace, and Kathy Troccoli...at least.. Barbara Streisand (I wish my voice was this good), Linda Ronstadt(I wish my voice was this good)...That's to mention a few....jtme

• I am a huge Elton John fan. I like a little bit of everything, though oldies and American standards are probably my favorites. I remember asking my mom when I was about 8 if there would be "really oldies" radio stations when I was grown-up. • I like Weird Al. His new CD Straight Outta Lynwood just came out on Sept. 26, 2006. He is a very talented artist who parodies but also writes original humorous songs and every time a new CD comes out people are so impressed! I also like the sound of Keney Chesney, Lorrie Morgan, and the Statler Brothers. But you really can't take the rock out of the girl. • I love a diverse range of musics from Indian pop, Indian classical, Techno, Funk, Qawwalli, Arabic, Rai.  At the present I can't get enough of the haunting voice of Abida Parveen, a Pakistani Qawwalli singer.  She is fantastic.  I heard Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan when he came to Adelaide for the WOMAD festival.  A beautiful performance on dusk after a 43 degree day.  Another favourite of mine is Moroccan composer/singer Abdelwahab Doukali.

 

I love all kinds of music.  From country, to hip hop, to rock, to oldies.  My all time favorite artist, though, is Michael Jackson!  He might be a little weird, but he is an amazing artist all the same!  ~Kim M.

 Gotta love U2 - cliched I know, but that's the way it is. Also Australian bands - The Angels are making a comeback, and I always had a soft spot for Midnight Oil. Missy Higgins is a great performer to see live as well.

Rich Mullins...my all-time favorite artist.  Changed my life.  The first time I listened to his "Songs" album, I kept remarking, "I love ALL of these songs...I can't believe they're all so good!"  There aren't too many albums you can say that about (even greatest hits albums).
